Meet our board of directors
They all volunteer their time and take no salary:
Melani is a qualified chartered accountant with almost 20 years of experience and is the Group Financial Controller of a major infrastructure company. Melani has been involved in Cambodian Kids Can for more than ten years. She is passionate about the project as she believes in the power of women and young girls to change the world and fight global poverty. “Seeing our three oldest girls make it to university have been some of the proudest moments of my life. They have grasped the opportunities given to them with both hands to get themselves a better future for them and their communities”
Patrick is a Fellow member of CPA Australia and has extensive financial operations experience working for several multinational manufacturing companies in CFO roles. He recently opted to reduce his full time work commitment and ‘give back’ to less well placed communities. During a holiday to Cambodia, he saw first-hand the urgent need for assistance that was required as the country recovered from the horrors of its recent past. He also completed a TESOL English Teacher Training course which he puts to good use during regular visits to Mekhala House.
Jenna is a community engagement and policy specialist with both government and NGO experience. She has worked with bushfire affected women (Black Saturday), refugee and asylum seeker communities and women in prison. With an academic background in gender studies and a year working at the United Nations on anti-human trafficking initiatives in the Mekong Delta region, Jenna joined Cambodian Kids Can to fulfil her desire to create lasting change by empowering young women in Cambodia. Jenna is a passionate advocate for strengths based and capacity building projects that enable local people to create their own innovative solutions to better their future.
