A message from our Chair
As the year draws to a close, we reflect on our success in coming together to support the wonderful young women who rely on the generosity of our supporters and volunteers. This year we successfully hosted two in-person events which raised more than $17,700 to keep Mekhala House operating and we were awarded a generous grant from the Tucker Foundation to double the student intake in 2023. I would like to thank everyone who has supported our efforts and extend season’s greetings to each of you.
The night of nights: Our Gala Dinner returns with a bang
Our long-awaited Gala Dinner was a smashing success!!
We’d like to thank everyone who attended on the night - it was because of you that we were able to raise almost $14,000 for the girls at Mekhala House in Prey Veng!
It was inspiring to see and hear first-hand the impact of CKC, with a live Skype call with the girls. We were able to chat with these remarkable young women about how their lives have changed and their optimism for their futures.
There was a great selection of auction items and raffle prizes, and it was thrilling to see such active and competitive bidding in our live auction! A highlight was undoubtedly the three-year-old who successfully bid on the signed Richmond jersey during our live auction.
On the night we auctioned the opportunity to purchase new bicycles for the 28 students attending Mekhala House next year. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our guests, we managed to raise enough to fund 20 new bikes!
Finally, a special thank you to our hardworking and dedicated board members and volunteers, who made the night possible.

Tucker Foundation grant to double Mekhala House intake for 2023
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a $24,610 grant from the Albert & Barbara Tucker Foundation. The Melbourne-based foundation supports charities who make a positive difference in people’s lives. We will use the funds to double next year’s student intake at Mekhala House with 12 new girls. They will be nurtured, educated, clothed and fed so they can focus on completing high school and obtaining meaningful employment to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
